Hanna Imports
How Raleigh's largest independent dealer trained their team to close EV deals with data.
Hanna Imports is one of the largest independent pre-owned dealerships in the Carolinas, operating out of Raleigh, NC with an inventory of over 500 vehicles. They were among the earliest independent dealers to take used EVs seriously, building EV inventory to 50% of their stock at peak. By the time most competitors were still figuring out how to handle EV trade-ins, Hanna already had years of experience and a team that had seen every question a buyer could ask.
With EV inventory growing and buyer awareness accelerating, Hanna's sales team needed more than general familiarity — they needed specific, vehicle-level data they could put in front of a customer and stand behind. Range anxiety, battery health concerns, and charging questions were coming up on nearly every EV conversation. A confident general answer was no longer enough. Buyers were arriving informed and expected the dealership to match that level.
Hanna implemented Voltest as a standard part of their intake process for every incoming EV. Each vehicle is tested before it goes to the lot, and the battery health score feeds directly into the vehicle's website listing through a VDP integration. When a buyer asks about battery condition, the sales team doesn't guess — they pull up the report. When a buyer sees the score online before visiting, they arrive with the concern already resolved.
Chris, Hanna's General Manager, trained his team to use the data as a conversation opener rather than a defensive answer.
Battery health data became what Chris describes as a deal closer for buyers who arrived with anxiety. First-time EV buyers who might have walked away uncertain left with confidence grounded in actual numbers. The VDP integration meant that buyers who browsed online were self-qualifying before they called — arriving with intent rather than hesitation.
The sales team stopped fielding the same foundational questions repeatedly and started having faster, higher-quality conversations.
“Voltest has been definitely a deal closer for people that have range anxiety, for people that don't really understand the EV basics well.”
— Chris, General Manager — Hanna Imports
Training a sales team on EVs is not just about product knowledge — it's about giving them data specific to each car so the conversation moves from reassurance to evidence.
